A1, A2 and A30 with exceptions. German rules for trucks on Corpus Christi

On Corpus Christi, trucks will not be allowed to drive through some German federal states from midnight until 22:00. However, drivers must take the exceptions into account, as selected sections of the A1, A2 and A30 motorways will remain open as transit corridors.
On 4 June, Corpus Christi will be celebrated in some European countries. Due to the holiday, truck traffic restrictions will apply in several places. In Germany, Corpus Christi is a public holiday only in selected federal states: Baden-Württemberg, Bavaria, Hesse, North Rhine-Westphalia, Rhineland-Palatinate and Saarland. It is in these federal states that holiday truck driving bans will apply.
❌ The ban for trucks with a gross vehicle weight of over 7.5 tonnes and trucks with trailers will apply from 00:00 to 22:00.
Despite the restrictions, German authorities have allowed traffic on selected motorway sections. The exception was introduced to maintain transit continuity between parts of Lower Saxony. In practice, this means that trucks will only be allowed to use designated “transit corridors”.
✅ A1: north-west corridor
Permitted traffic covers the section:
● Lotte/Osnabrück → Osnabrück-Nord
● further through a section in Lower Saxony towards the border with North Rhine-Westphalia
● and in the opposite direction
In practice for drivers: Lotte – Osnabrück-Nord, transit in both directions.
✅ A2: main east-west corridor
Truck traffic will be possible on the section:
● Bad Oeynhausen → Bad Eilsen, NRW/Lower Saxony border
● and in the opposite direction
In practice: Bad Oeynhausen – Bad Eilsen.
✅ A30: two transit sections
The exception covers:
● Rheine-Nord → Hasbergen-Gaste
● and the section Bruchmühlen → Bad Oeynhausen, A2
● traffic in both directions
In practice:
● Rheine-Nord – Hasbergen-Gaste
● Bruchmühlen – Bad Oeynhausen/A2
