Selected A10 entry and exit ramps in Austria to be closed on 29 August

On Saturday, 29 August, drivers using the A10 Tauern motorway must take into account temporary closures in the Werfen and Pongau areas. The restrictions will be in force from 8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., but the main A10 carriageway will remain open to traffic. Hauliers must also take into account a separate driving ban for transit trucks over 7.5 tonnes.

ASFINAG will conduct the penultimate pilot measures related to traffic management on the A10 motorway. The tests are intended to show how the temporary closure of selected entry and exit ramps affects traffic flow on days with the highest travel volumes.

What will be closed on the A10

On Saturday, 29 August, from 8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.:
• at the Werfen partial interchange, the entry onto the A10 towards Salzburg will be closed,
• at the Bischofshofen link road at the Pongau interchange, the Buchberg/Kreuzberg exit leading to the L276 state road will be closed.

The rest of the Pongau interchange will remain open to traffic. The closures will not affect the main A10 motorway carriageway. The Pass Lueg interchange will also be accessible again on Saturday. Its northbound closure, related to roadworks, was in force until and including 27 August.

Driving ban for transit trucks

Regardless of the ramp closures, a driving ban will be in force on the A10 on Saturday, 29 August, for transit trucks and articulated vehicles with a permissible maximum gross weight of more than 7.5 tonnes.

The ban applies from 7:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. in both directions, towards Villach and Salzburg. The regulations provide for exemptions, including for certain supply transports, food deliveries and journeys by emergency and service vehicles.

Exit restrictions from the A10 remain in force

Until 13 September, exit restrictions for transit traffic also remain in force on the A10 in the federal state of Salzburg. Vehicles that do not have a destination in Austria may not use the following exits:
• towards Villach: Puch-Urstein, Hallein, Kuchl, Golling-Abtenau, Werfen, Pongau, Lammertal-Hüttau, Eben im Pongau, Altenmarkt im Pongau, Flachau, Flachauwinkl and Zederhaus;
• towards Salzburg: Flachauwinkl, Flachau, Altenmarkt im Pongau, Eben im Pongau, the MOP Eben connection to local roads, Pongau, Pfarrwerfen-Werfen, Golling-Abtenau, Hallein and Puch-Urstein.

The restrictions are intended to prevent transit traffic from avoiding congestion on the A10 by using local roads.
