Italy: daily truck ban on SR 206 from 3 to 31 August

A daily traffic ban for certain heavy vehicles will apply on the SR 206 “Emilia” regional road in Tuscany from 3 to 31 August 2026. The restriction covers the section between the Vicarello junction and the Malandrone roundabout in both directions, from 8:00 to 21:00.

The ban applies to single vehicles and vehicle combinations with three or more axles. It also covers all vehicles with a maximum authorised mass exceeding 7.5 tonnes, regardless of the number of axles.
Affected vehicles will be diverted to the A12 motorway between the Collesalvetti and Rosignano Marittimo toll stations. The new Malandrone toll barrier may also be used.

Exemptions

The restriction does not apply to:
• buses and other vehicles used exclusively for passenger transport;
• motorhomes, caravans and emergency vehicles;
• vehicles whose journey begins or ends within the restricted section;
• vehicles carrying out local loading or unloading operations or travelling to locations accessible only via the SR 206;
• vehicles classified as mezzi d’opera under Article 54(1)(n) of the Italian Highway Code;
• vehicles carrying fuel for the distribution network, loaded at the Stagno refinery or the Coastal Terminal.
The fuel transport exemption applies only between Vicarello and San Pietro in Palazzi. Documents confirming the destination, local transport operation or lack of an alternative route may be required when using the relevant exemptions.

National truck bans also remain in force

The local restriction applies in addition to Italy’s national truck-ban calendar for goods vehicles exceeding 7.5 tonnes on roads outside built-up areas.
National restrictions are also scheduled on selected Fridays and Saturdays and every Sunday in August. On some dates they begin before 8:00 or continue until 22:00. Drivers and transport operators therefore cannot assume that traffic will always be permitted after the local ban ends at 21:00.
Local authorities are also considering compensation for local transport companies required to use the A12. The eligibility criteria and refund procedure have not yet been agreed.
