Austria: Summer Driving Bans to Disrupt Transport Through Brenner, Tyrol and Salzburg

The Brenner corridor, the Lueg Bridge, the A10 motorway and Tyrol’s anti-rat-running restrictions will be among the most challenging points on Austria’s transport map during the summer of 2026. Hauliers must prepare for additional truck bans affecting both motorways and selected federal roads.
The reconstruction of the Lueg Bridge on the Brenner route, summer restrictions on key federal roads, and further anti-rat-running measures in Tyrol and Salzburg will create additional challenges for transport operators during the 2026 summer season. Companies carrying out transport operations through Austria should expect a number of extra restrictions that may affect transit times as well as loading and unloading schedules.
The most significant restrictions this year are linked to the refurbishment of the Lueg Bridge on the A13 Brenner Autobahn. This route is one of the most important transport corridors connecting Germany, Austria and Italy and is used daily by thousands of heavy goods vehicles.
