No truck driving ban in Slovakia on 8 May

On 8 May 2026, the truck driving ban will not apply in Slovakia. Despite the public holiday, vehicles over 7.5 tonnes and trucks over 3.5 tonnes with a trailer or semi-trailer will be allowed to operate without restrictions.
On 8 May 2026, there will be no driving ban for heavy goods vehicles in Slovakia. This means that, despite the public holiday falling on that day, trucks and vehicle combinations will be able to move without restrictions resulting from weekend and holiday traffic bans. The information applies to heavy goods vehicles and vehicle combinations with a gross vehicle weight of over 7.5 tonnes, as well as trucks with a gross vehicle weight of over 3.5 tonnes with a trailer or semi-trailer.
Although 8 May is a public holiday in Slovakia, it is not a statutory non-working day within the meaning of the regulations on restrictions for heavy goods traffic. For this reason, the driving ban set out in the Slovak Road Traffic Act does not apply on that day. This means that journeys through Slovakia on 8 May can be planned without taking into account the holiday truck traffic ban. This applies both to vehicles over 7.5 tonnes and to trucks over 3.5 tonnes travelling with a trailer or semi-trailer.
